Bed was comfortable
Located by nothing, no other options for food or drink
The relaxed atmosphere and fantastic sense of place and history in a stylish and relaxed setting.
It was an adventure staying here! This is not your average hotel. It's true, there is no one to help with your bags, but when you get to your room...WOW!! The rooms are massive, with very appropro furnishings. The beds were absolutely wonderful. The bathroom was big enough to hold a small party in there. We were leaving the next day on a cruise and it is so close to the embarkation terminal we were able to walk. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on that.
Really, there wasn't anything I didn't like. We enjoyed going and seeing a bit of history.
The building, interior, furniture, location and connections to the city using the watertaxi
The staff seems to be instructed for minimal service during breakfast. Used plates and cups were not removed from our table during breakfast. This is the reason for scoring "low service".
The historic atmosphere and furnishings in both public and private rooms
I did not want to pay for a full breakfast but was told there was no alternative.
The hotel is stunning; I highly recommend it.
Spacy rooms, pleasant restaurant environment
service in restaurant is poor. Staff is not watching clients.
The "funky" nature of the room design; it retained an atmosphere in keeping with it's past.
I couldn't get a meal until 8.30pm so had to eat elsewhere; residents should be able to eat when they want to.
The hotel is like a film set, very special. Staff are polite and helpful, a rare thing today.
It took me back to the times when passengers (including inmigrants) used it as the main cruise and passenger terminal (old and nice).
I liked it in general
very comfortable bed
the whole day there is a terrible smell...cooking fish in the kitchen!
Very spacious room with fantastic view. Exelent bathroom facilities and god location.
The service in the resturant was lacking very slow service, almost as if the were stuggeling in the kitchen. Food was OK but nothing to write home about.
We had great dinner and breakfast at this unique place. The special history and location of this hotel is their main vantage, something you will be made aware in every detail while staying there.
While the beds are luxurious, the rooms could need a makeover to fit the premium pricing of the hotel. Our room even had this typical moldy smell of a vintage hotel. This was pretty unexpected.
Hotel has retained many of the features of the Holland America line building - modern designs with a wonderful old world feel. Excellent for cruise ship departure from Rotterdam.
No, just loved the marine decor.
I liked the whole atmosphere of the hotel. the beds were superb for comfort and the bathrooms were extremely clean and huge. The cathedral ceiling and the achitecture on the inside of the building is beauitiful.
The access to the hotel requires you to climb stairs and makes it difficult to carry your luggage into the hotel.
